Portland-based Print Team has expanded its wide-format print capabilities with the installation of a Mimaki CJV330-160 printer/cutter. The hybrid machine was supplied by PrintMax and supported by UK and Ireland Mimaki distributor Hybrid Services.

The family-run business, which produces signage, vinyl graphics, and printed materials for clients across England’s south coast and beyond, turned to Mimaki after its previous machine reached end-of-life. The decision was informed both by performance requirements and positive word-of-mouth about Mimaki printers.

“We couldn’t afford downtime, and the effort they went to in getting the printer to us quickly made all the difference,” said Print Team founder Chris Smith.

The CJV330-160 has been integrated smoothly into production, with enhanced cutting accuracy and vibrant colour output thanks to the inclusion of orange ink in Mimaki’s eight-colour SS21 ink set. “Estate agent boards now feature vibrant, colour-accurate prints that stand out far more than those produced on direct-to-board printers,” said joint managing director Martyn Smith, who also found the RasterLink RIP software “more intuitive” than previous systems.

Additional workflow improvements include the printer’s multi-roll feed and improved sheet-off function, allowing faster switching between substrates and more consistent media handling.
