Ian Bates has joined print and paper advocacy group Two Sides as European Marketing & Partnership director.

With more than 20 years’s experience in the packaging industry, Mr Bates has been heavily involved in paper-based packaging developments, working with brand owners to help them reduce their dependency on single-use plastic. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the forest and cellulose value chain and collaboration with multiple partners and stakeholders.

He joins Two Sides at a time when key decisions are being made about optimising materials and packaging design to deliver minimal social, environmental and commercial impacts. Having an independent, well-informed viewpoint is sen as key to this, whilst at the same time tackling ‘greenwashing’ misleading environmental product claims.
