Print Evolved, the London-based web-to-print technology specialist, has acquired Kent’s VR Print as part of its ongoing strategic growth programme.

The acquisition follows hot on the heels of Print Evolved also taking over Oxford’s Mayfield Press and means that the company now has a presence in slington, Oxford, Gerrards Cross and Tonbridge. Print Evolved says that it brings together two similar operations and ‘affords opportunities to offer clients additional products and services and to integrate operations into a consolidated, larger scale, high tech web-to-print business.’ In terms of specific applications, the addition of VR Print means that the wider group now posses specialist equipment for printing short run personalised books, direct mail and fulfilment products.

Print Evolved’s managing director Spencer Slee commented, ‘This is a friendly acquisition with benefits for all. VR Print is an extremely well run, advanced technology company with a complementary offering to our own. Combining our resources will maximise operating efficiencies and together we will have a greater customer base, all of whom will be able to take advantage of the additional services available.’

Andrew Balcombe, Mr Slee’s counterpart at VR Print, added, ‘This is an exciting bringing together of two of the country’s major web-to-print businesses enabling us to merge the technical specialities of both. Our combined automated workflow systems give greater capacity, improved efficiency and customer benefits, notably with an economical, same day service for the London area. Whilst my exit has been accelerated by health issues, the forward plan for VR has been to join a like-minded partner to take the company forward. I believe that joining Print Evolved is an excellent fit, giving greater size and scale to compete at all levels and significantly increasing our offering in order to better meet customers’ evolving needs.’

The new, enlarged group, will retain existing staff, premises and equipment and therefore continue to offer all current services as well as jointly developing innovative new products and services.
