Duplo has launched the DF-1300L, a dedicated folder for the long-sheet SRA3 formats now supported by many digital presses. It offers a range of single and multiple folding options at rates up to 310 sheets per minute, and so enables production of a wide range of finished formats.

Accepting sheets up to 311 x 648mm in weights from 50 to 230gsm depending on stock and required fold type, the DF-1300L offers single, double and letter folds, regular and irregular accordion folding, and gate-, cross- and custom-folds, with 30 job memories and two auto-setting fold plates. Paper handing is via air suction rather than friction feed. It can therefore produce products such as six-panel A4 tri-fold leaflets and four-page A4 landscape brochures.

Duplo notes that the long sheet capability is increasingly becoming available in light production sheet-fed presses, a sector that according to Keypoint Intelligence is set to grow at a compounded rate of 43%, expanding the user base for these less common formats.

Marine Kerivel-Brown, international marketing manager at Duplo, said, ‘This sector needs automated and flexible finishing products that complement the wide range of work being produced, but with ease-of-use and affordability relevant to the target market. With a range of appropriate products supported by integrated prepress and workflow from the likes of Ultimate and EFI, we feel ideally positioned to support our customers’ desire for producing new and creative applications. Long format applications are becoming increasingly popular as users take advantage of stretching their digital printer’s capabilities; something the new 1300L Folder can support.

‘Pairing other new products such as the DC-618 that can handle banner formats up to 1200mm long, while also providing automated cutting, creasing and perforating as an alternative to separate equipment, provide the means to produce a very broad range of applications to complement specific business needs in a very compact footprint.’

The DF-1300L is available immediately.
