Fedrigoni has called on UK creatives to help design the next edition of its 365 calendar. Traditionally the calendars were made up of 365 unique designs, one for each day of the year, the 2021 edition, however, is set to be a little different.

Using a Ricoh Pro C7200, 4000 completely unique calendars will be printed containing a collection of 365 designs, randomly collated from hundreds of contributors – meaning this year each design accepted will be published.

Simon Isaacs, national sales director at Ricoh UK, said, ‘Ricoh is incredibly honoured to have been picked out of all other digital print manufacturers to collaborate on this unique and worthy project, which in the past has raised £15,000 for charity. I am very much looking forward to seeing the finished collection and buying this one-of-a-kind book myself.’

Ricoh’s workflow will allow each book to be entirely unique from cover to cover. This workflow will create a dataset of contributing designers that appear in each calendar, using algorithms to ensure no design is used twice within any single calendar, and that each design appears an equal number of times throughout the entire run. The dataset is then used with their leading industry variable data publishing solution, FusionPro, to automatically typeset and layout the calendar pages during composition. Finally, using neon and CYMK inks on a range of Fedrigoni paper, the vibrancy and beauty of each art work will be showcased to the highest standard.
