Italian company Zechini has launched four new machines, available in the UK via Friedheim, to aid the production of hardback books including diaries and notebooks, as well as educational and professional literature.

The Milan-based company, founded in 1952, is a manufacturer for bookbinding and converting machines for book production. It specialises in binding and converting machines for short, medium and longer runs of hardback books.

Its four new machines, introduced in the absence of drupa, are positioned ‘for individual investment to speed up and sharpen existing processes, or as a package to win over new markets with higher efficiency–quality ratios.’

The Zagor is a dual head corner rounding machine for hard cover books, it has ‘heated tools which ensure a perfect result with a wide range of board diameters.’

The Asso is a pen loop machine which automatically applies a pen loop on a cardboard book cover.

The Guizzo is an elastic band machine which inserts and glues an elastic band onto hard covers of diaries, agendas, folders, blocks and boxes.

Finally, the Phantom is a two-headed corner cutting machine that trims or cuts the corners of books, pocket diaries and notebooks.

Zechini says its new range has been ‘engineered to the highest degree of quality for a robust, consistent and precise machine that will outlive everything but its re-sale value.’
