Roland DG is now shipping the Texart XT 640S DTG (direct-to-garment) printer, which is designed for rapid printing of T-shirts via a jig that allows 12 garments to be printed at once, each with a different design.

Previewed at Fespa 2019 (and intended to be shown at the 2020 event in March, before its postponement due to Coronavirus concerns), the XT-640S combines the head carriage and mechanics of the existing Textart 640 line with a multiple platen jig that when fully loaded allows each shirt in a batch of 12 to effectively be printed in eight seconds, with a maximum image area of 200 x 260mm and printing in ‘production mode’ with CMYK only.

The printer also supports white ink and the sliding baseplate can accommodate different size jigs to mix product sizes and types within one print run. Roland says the prints, which can be on cotton, cotton-rich and white polyester garments or other similarly-sized items such as tote bags or cushion covers, are vibrant, durable and have a ‘natural feel’.

Paul Willems, Roland DG’s director of business development and product management EMEA, commented, ‘The new Texart XT 640S DTG is another great example of the opportunities offered by Roland digital technology. Its speed, accuracy and versatility make it ideal for garment suppliers moving from screen printing to digital, those already running multiple direct-to-garment machines, brands bringing production in-house, garment embroidery businesses looking to diversify their product offering, and many more. The digital direct-to-garment printing market is set to grow and grow, and we’re looking forward to helping more of our customers join it.’

The Texart XT 640S DTG is available now across the EMEA region and ships with ErgoSoft Roland RIP software which supports variable data and features an ‘auto-white’ function.
