EFI and Memjet have forged a new partnership which will see EFI offer Fiery digital front ends (DFEs) for digital printing presses that incorporate Memjet’s DuraLink printheads.

The new DFEs being developed for DuraLink-equipped devices is being designed to deliver in areas the companies, both based in California, believe customers care about the most. These include colour and imaging, productivity, management tools and connectivity. Users should be able to meet customer requirements for brands colour and extended-gamut applications using extended ink sets; they will also be able to make on-the-fly corrections and late-stage colour edits at the DFE.

‘We have installed a Fiery DFE to drive a seven-colour digital press in Memjet’s headquarters demo centre, and both our team and our partners are impressed with the way the Fiery DFE enables superior colour and image control,’ said Eric Owen, general manager of commercial press for Memjet. ‘Fiery technology, combined with DuraLink’s speed, image quality and reliability, bring tremendous added value to Memjet’s DuraLink partners.’

The DFEs will include EFI’s Fiery Color Profiler Suite software, which provides colour management tools, and the Fiery Command WorkStation interface which provides consistency across all Fiery driven digital equipment.

‘We are pleased to be working with Memjet to give its DuraLink OEM partners a new competitive advantage,’ said John Henze, vice president, sales and marketing, EFI Fiery. ‘This partnership will bring our most advanced technologies to an even broader base of print service providers, packaging companies and industrial manufacturers that see the tremendous opportunity for growth in high-end digital colour print.’
