Kevin Lee, operations director, Deanprint with the MBO K80

Cheshire-based printer and book binder Deanprint has installed England’s first MBO K80 full automatic combination folder. It joins four new Baumann Wohlenberg guillotines, Quickbinder and Trim-tec three knife trimmer from Wohlenberg completing a six-year upgrade programme.

Kevin Lee, operations director commented, ‘The MBO K80 is a superb machine, it beat the competition due not only to the level of automation, but the slitter shaft cassette. It means make readies are incredibly fast, so we can improve efficiency in the fold area, helping us to improve customer services and turnaround times.’

Supplied by Friedheim the K80 was launched in 2017.  Mitch Ball, sales specialist for Friedheim said, ‘Deanprint was established in 1890, and is a company with a reputation for supplying top quality printing and bookbinding services. The only way to maintain that position is to purchase equipment that fulfils that requirement. We’ve provided finishing equipment for the printer’s six year long refresh and it’s been a pleasure every step of the way.’

The MBO K80 is the latest addition to the 50,000sqft site in Stockport, Cheshire, which has over 100 items of finishing equipment including other high speed folders, trimmers, sewing machines, a Wohlenberg perfect binder purchased in 2014 and Wiro binding machines. The company provides a huge range of finished products for government, trade and educational bodies including manufacturing boxes, slip cases, folders and ring binders.

Mr Ball concluded, ‘The MBO K80 is perfect for the UK printing industry, both great value for money and performance. It’s also very operator friendly especially with the new M1 control and is a perfect match-up with Deanprint and the workflow they need it for.’
