Six shades of Keaykolour paper were used for different cover versions of Off Black magazine.

A recycled paper stock and digital printing have been the chosen path for fashion, beauty, arts and culture magazine Off Black for its latest issue, which has been published to coincide with global fashion weeks taking place this Autumn.

Arjowiggins Graphic’s Cyclus Offset 100% uncoated recycled paper (115gsm) was chosen for the text pages of the magazine because of its ‘subtle shade, high quality texture and environmental benefits’, while six versions of the front covers of the magazine were printed on six shades of the virgin fibre Keaykolour uncoated paper at 300gsm. The new ‘vibrant’ colours chosen, alongside the existing Snow White, were Atoll, Chilli Pepper, Lipstick, Indian Yellow and Deep Black.

Printing of the 400-page magazine was undertaken by F E Burman in London, using its HP Indigo 12000, with the paper stocks supplied by Antalis.

Off Black is a bi-annual publication in London, known for bringing visibility to a new generation of creatives. Each issue is totally reinvented to coincide with the event it is supporting, from type of paper to the typeface used.

According to Arjowiggins Graphic, among the environmental impact reductions achieved by using the Cyclus Offset recycled paper for the text pages of the magazine were 225kg of CO2 and greenhouse gases, more than 22,000 litres of water and more than 2,900kWh of energy.
