Making its debut at an open-house event at EFI’s site in Bergamo, Italy, last week, the Reggiani Bolt digital textile printer is aimed at high volume industrial strength production.

The single-pass printer, which draws on EFI technology developed for the Nozomi corrugated press, is capable of up to 8000sqm/hr at 600 x 600dpi but also offers up to 600 x 4800dpi for “premium” applications, using a dedicated recirculating printhead capable of greyscale imaging with drop sizes between five and 30pl.

EFI says the new model offers ‘high uptime and reliability, outstanding performance, superior printing uniformity and accuracy, long printhead life and minimal maintenance needs’. It is aimed at high quality ecologically-sustainable digital textile imaging in applications including apparel and décor and comes with a Fiery DFE designed to suit its high throughput. The combination of EFI’s inks and Fiery colour management technology is said to provide a wide colour gamut and good reproduction of plain colours, geometric patterns, fine lines, rich blacks and smooth gradients.

There is an option to combine digital and rotary analogue printing stations for special effects and the printer comes with a year’s subscription to the Fiery DesignPro textile and fashion design suite based on the Adobe Creative Cloud products. This software helps to create colour books, repeats, multiple colourways and to prepare files for production.
