Two new high end NEC SpectraView monitors were announced at the Photokina show in Cologne last week. The SpectraView 232 and NEC SpectraView 271 are 23 and 27 inch professional colour displays aimed at creative professionals for whom colour accuracy is critical.

They offer wide colour gamuts, with 75% coverage AdobeRGB with the SpectraView 232, and 98% with the SpectraView 271.

The 271 has a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution  and 14-bit programmable 3D lookup tables (LUTs) for 42-bit colour control and gamma correction, irrespective of colour and input. The SpectraView   271 has 1920 x 1080 pixels and 10-bit p-IPS panel to display 1.07 billion colours. The SpectraView   232 is also NEC’s first colourpcritical display with LED backlighting. SpectraView Profiler software is also provided on CD-ROM and can also be downloaded freely.

Connectivity options include DisplayPort and two DVI inputs (DisplayPort, HDMI and one DVI for the SV232) for multi-platform compatibility. There’s an integrated USB hub for connecting peripherals and other video inputs.

Further features include digital uniformity control and backlight ageing correction, for long-term brightness and colour stability.

The cabinet and stand design allows a reduced packaging footprint compared to similar displays, said NEC. The SpectraView   271 uses as little as 1.4W in Power Savings Mode whilst the SpectraView   232 uses 1W.

NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year pan-European service warranty including the backlight.
