MIS developer Tharstern has introduced a new Estimate Pro module for its Primo and Primo Lite modular systems.
This will not replace the original estimating module, now renamed Estimate Classic, but it will provide a more streamlined set of functions with pre-sets for quicker access. Estimate Classic will then mainly be used for more detailed requirements for unusual or complex jobs, said Abdul Kassas, sales director of Tharstern.
The new module is not template driven, but users can build up and search within libraries of previous estimates so it is easy to modify them to suit similar jobs. The pre-sets are created depending on the user’s equipment and operating methods and appear as drop-down lists of options for each stage in the estimate. It’s possible to build in ‘logic’ so that for instance if inhouse laminating is selected, then the outworking list will grey out laminating so it’s not selected twice. A smart layout system can arrange the print elements to make the bast use of available space on the press. If more complex imposition is needed the Tharstern system includes a ganging module that integrates with the Metrix imposition system or it can import templates from PREPS imposition software.
Also new from the company is a Customer Relationship Manager Module and a fast tracking system that shows the location of a job in the factory at any time.
