A second Heidelberg Linoprint C901 gives Doveton Press an unprecedented degree of flexibility in the production of print jobs to meet customers’ varying run lengths, cost and quality expectations, the company claims.
The additional machine means it will be running three offset litho presses, a four-colour plus coater Speedmaster SM 74, and two Speedmaster SM 52 Anicolors, a five colour and a four colour plus coater, alongside two Linoprint C 901 digital presses.
Managing director Gavin Savage said, ‘Offset litho and digital each have a place in today’s market. We need both to meet the varying run lengths and cost and quality expectations of our customers. We diversified into digital last year and the quality and productivity of the Linoprint C901 has impressed us. We can mop up personalisation work and handle very short runs now. Operating both litho and digital allows us to give individual customers the maximum choice and we help them to find the right technology to suit their budget and each product’s specific quality requirements. The Linoprint presses are definitely additional machines and not replacements for the Anicolors which continue to impress us with their fast makeready, minimal waste and overall productivity. They also allow us to offer special colours, seals and metallics.’
The company is a 44 year old general commercial printing company based in Bristol. It offers graphic design and comprehensive finishing in addition to its printing services. Brothers Mark and Gavin Savage who now run the company their father set up are committed to providing customers with a personal and efficient service, providing a wide range of good quality practical and promotional printed products at competitive prices. The company was one of the first print shops to experiment with and use environmentally friendly and post consumer waste papers and has built up considerable experience in their use. All waste paper is collected and recycled, with any redundant stock sent free to the Scrap Store to be used in schools.
