Finishing is a key ingredient in AB Print Group’s service, and the Batley, West Yorkshire, company has now extended its capability after purchasing a Eurobind EB 600 perfect binder and a Stahlfolder KH 66 folder from Heidelberg.

He company offers litho, digital and screen printing services but also promotes its finishing as a means of differentiating itself from the crowd. It offers in-line sealing, creasing and perforating as well as offline cut, crease, stitch and fold. It goes beyond the standard capabilities however, with scratch’n’sniff fragrances, hot foil blocking, embossing, metallic latex scratch cards, UV varnishing and re-moist gumming also available in-house.

‘We can see a growth in perfect binding applications, particularly for short run, higher pagination digitally printed work,’ said director Alan Williamson. ‘Others don’t have perfect binding so we want it. The Eurobind 600 is an affordable and cost-effective model. We will run it with hot melt glue.’

Both the EB 600 and the combination folder will be delivered in the autumn to give the company a boost in output. The machines will operate on double day shifts, five days a week.
