Individual personalisation and short run production of ceramic mugs has been dominated by ‘white’ coated mugs decorated using traditional sublimation transfer process, but according to TheMagicTouch things are about to change.

The company pioneered affordable dark garment decoration with its WoW image transfer process, and has partnered with Europe’s leading ceramics coater and decorator Listawood to promote a process that combines the patent-protected SatinMug, developed and engineered by Listawood, and CPM transfer paper and white toner technology from TheMagicTouch.

The matt-satin finish offers ‘a contemporary look and smooth tactile feel plus detail and colour matching as never seen before’. The initial eight colour range has black, red, blue, yellow, green, cyan and pink with a white version also being suitable for either toner or sublimation decoration. Listawood can produce mugs to a specific Pantone colour with a minimum production requirement of only 1000 mugs.

TheMagicTouch is also introducing printable mug boxes which will assist in promoting the personalised concept and add value to what is already regarded as a higher value product. The CPM toner-based transfers produced on the white toner TheMagicTouch/OKI 711 printer can be applied using traditional mug presses with the finished mug costing approximately £2 each.

The same CPM transfer paper used for the mug decoration is also suitable for the full colour decoration of notebooks, diaries, iPad cases, folders and many other B2B hard surface products.
