Solent Design Studio, Southampton, has purchased a suite of post-press equipment from Morgana Systems including the AeroCut Nano small-format cutting device, a Morgana AutoCreaser Pro50, and a Morgana AutoFold Pro.

Commenting on the purchase of the post-press products, Craig Reynolds, operations director, said, ‘The AutoCreaser saves us a huge amount of time on both creasing and perforating jobs. Previously we had used both cylinder and our Ryobi litho press for these tasks. This was time consuming to set-up and it meant that one of only two people in the company could really undertake the work. The AutoCreaser and AutoFold products are just so easy to set-up and operate that we can quickly train anybody in the business to use the products.’

The AeroCut Nano from Uchida is a card cutter that can take sheets of up to SRA3 in size, in weights of up to 350 gsm. It feeds, slits and cross cuts to finish printed sheets into business cards, post cards, leaflets, or flyers. AeroCut Nano has two single slitter blades and two double slitter blades. The slitter blocks can be adjusted manually or fixed with via its InstaSet bar – a patented mechanism that can snap on to the machine to set-up the unit for common formats.

‘The AeroCut is especially useful for business cards, and also useful just cutting two-up leaflets to size. We have this machine sitting next to the digital print engines so that we can just take the printed jobs and finish them immediately. Again, it’s a product that anyone can use – you don’t need to be a skilled guillotine operator to produce business cards with the AeroCut – and it’s fast too,’ commented Mr Reynolds.
