The promise of an additional £500 donation for the male cancers charity Orchid was reliant on Peter Benton, managing director of press peripherals company technotrans completing the London Marathon in under three and a half hours.

Despite suffering cramp in the last five miles, the challenge spurred Peter on and he crossed the line in 3hrs 29 mins, a fantastic achievement.

He ran with a friend Mike Deed, a survivor of testicular cancer, and together they have raised an incredible £7,039 for Orchid but it’s not too late for that figure to rise further. Contributions can be made at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/301.

Peter trained really hard and was pushed on by a training guru who had him complete 1,500 miles prior to the event and, with that, a loss of 9kg in weight!

‘I am pleased to have achieved the goal and to have supported this life-saving charity. They do so much to help those with male cancers and to look for cures. Despite the aches and pains it was a real buzz to be among 40,000 runners at the London Marathon. Thank you to all the printers and fellow suppliers who have backed this project – and to those who read this and still make a pledge.’
