IPEX17 event director Rob Fisher (L) working with newly appointed content curator James Matthews-Paul

James Matthews-Paul has been appointed content curator for IPEX 2017, which will feature a printed fashion catwalk from the London College of Fashion.

As content curator for IPEX, journalist and consultant James Matthews-Paul will host panels, Q&A sessions, keynote speakers and technology and trends content on the Centre Stage. His remit also includes a journey around the UK to discover what the community feels about print in 2017 and in the future.

‘We were keen to find a curator who would bring a completely different perspective to the show and fulfil our commitment to demonstrate [the show’s motif] Print In Action,’ said Rob Fisher, event director.

‘I’m convinced that the IPEX team realises that it has an opportunity to set a new tone for print events moving forward, and is committed to making IPEX 17 the “hard reset” that the industry needs,’ commented Mr Matthews-Paul. ‘I am looking forward to bringing an entirely new set of speakers and contributors, plus some much-loved experts, to the content programme to make that happen.’

Linking the print community with a major university, a collaboration with London College of Fashion will result in a thrice-daily catwalk show on each of IPEX’s four days. Students from the university will be encouraged to work with printers, creating designs that incorporate digitally printed textile, paper and cardboard stocks, or other print-capable substrates.

Printers, resellers and manufacturers from the UK are encouraged to contact ipexteam@informa.com to register their interest in helping a student develop a truly original design. The closing deadline is 30 April 2017. Winning entries will be showcased at IPEX.

‘IPEX will be a lively forum for debate and learning,’ concluded Mr Fisher. ‘This will be an event that both reflects and leads print, and sets the tone for the next few years through originality and dialogue.’
