Kolbus UK are busy installing a Kolbus KM 200 Perfect Binder at CPI Antony Rowe

CPI Antony Rowe has invested £1.5m in a second Kolbus KM 200 binding line, including the UK’s first Kolbus HD-HD Three Knife Trimmer, for its Melksham, Wilshire site.

The purchase follows on the heels of another Kolbus KM 200 which is now up and running at their German plant Buchbucher.de.

Equipped for feeding book blocks or stacks of loose sheets, the Kolbus KM 200 digital binder runs at speeds up to 5,000 copies per hour, can switch from “almost instantly from hardback” to paperback production, and produces runs of one.

Featuring a double cutting station that first cuts the foredge and then the second station cuts head and tail, the Kolbus HD-HD Three Knife Trimmer allows both the side knives and bed adjust for further flexibility.

‘We have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with Kolbus UK and these latest machines are exactly what we were looking for,’ said Martin Collyer, divisional general manager of CPI Antony Rowe. ‘They are perfect for both our very short run products and longer run output. In particular the speed of make-ready capability ensures that we’ll continue to be able to fulfil customer needs well into the future.’

‘CPI Antony Rowe have been Kolbus customers for some 30 years,’ commented Robert Flather, Kolbus UK MD. ‘The confidence CPI have shown in these Kolbus products, and after-sales service, demonstrates the value of such long-term partnerships.’
