Komfi Amiga 52 thermal laminator

Inprint Litho, also known as Better Printing, has purchased the UK’s first Komfi Amiga 52 thermal laminator with Over Toner Foiling (OTF) unit from Friedheim International.

The laminator, on show during IPEX, has been installed in the company’s 1580sqm factory in Southampton.

Purchased for £35,000, the Komfi Amiga 52 OTF joins a MBO K76 along with other finishing equipment. The commercial printer has  Konica Minolta and Xerox digital presses along with  two five-colour Sakurai B2 litho machines plus Agfa, Canon and Roland wide-format printers. It also has a direct mail section with Pitney Bowes and Bell & Howell envelope inserters.

Bringing laminating work in-house, the Komfi Amiga 52 is an industrial B2 laminator capable of laminating and foiling sheets between 115 and 600gsm. The OTF module allows the laminator to apply film to printed toner on the sheet from the digital printer. Special effects can be applied with a wide range of foils.

Damien Sweeney, Inprint Litho’s managing director, said, ‘It’s reduced our outsourcing by 50%. We do a lot of regular campaign work for our customers and we collate all the digital, litho and large format, and then pack them for distribution. The Komfi adds laminating and foiling to our portfolio of services.’

Tom Baker, post-press sales specialist at Friedheim, added, ‘We’ve received a lot of interest in Komfi’s OTF machines over the last few months, it looks like embellishment and special effects are going to be key in the decision-making process in 2018.’
