Sticking with Roland:  Matthew Anderson says production has increased by 72%

A Roland TrueVis VG-640 printer/cutter has been instrumental in helping Swansea-based Bow Design win business from a major supermarket chain.

After acquiring the business in autumn 2017, owner Matthew Anderson sought to add further print capacity to complement an existing 14-year-old Roland VersaCamm SP-540 that was still in production, backed by a laminator and CNC router. A contract with a major retailer was in the offing but couldn’t be met with the existing fleet.

After reviewing a number of options, Mr Anderson chose the Roland TrueVis VG-640 after seeing a demonstration. ‘As an existing Roland user I know that Roland’s service is second to none,’ he commented. ‘The TrueVis VG-640’s speed and quality are great and the RIP is almost identical to the VersaCamm’s so I knew it would be easy to use.’

As a direct result of the TrueVis installation in February by reseller PrintMax, Bow Design is now producing work for seven supermarket branches, including window graphics, point of sale, internal hanging signs and filling station graphics, with new Easter displays about to be installed.

Print-and-cut work for stickers has also been improved substantially with the new arrival. Mr Anderson reported: ‘The week before the TrueVis was installed I printed 100 stickers on our older machine in 39 minutes. A week later, on the new TrueVis, I printed 100 stickers in nine minutes. We now have two operational Roland machines, running all day every day, and I’ve calculated production has increased by 72%.’
