The new large-format DesignJet Z6 and Z9⁺ series of printers are designed for small and medium-sized businesses, including photo studios, retailers, copy shops, education facilities and architecture firms, and bring together image quality and simplified workflows on a single platform.

Built on a platform with more than 40,000 units installed worldwide, the new machines combine elements of the previous HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9 models. They are intended for applications including professional photography, retail graphics, posters and technical prints.

“Print businesses today need to do more with less – faster turnaround, broader applications, and consistent quality,” said Daniel Martinez, SVP and division president, HP Large Format Printing. “The HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9⁺ PostScript® Printer Series Plus Edition is built to deliver the precision, quality, and productivity customers need to grow profitably.”

The printers feature HP Pixel Control technology and HP Vivid Photo Inks, producing sharp detail, smooth gradients and water- and fade-resistant prints. HP’s dual-drop technology is designed to deliver high-quality output without requiring light inks.

The HP DesignJet Z9⁺ Plus Edition is aimed at colour-critical applications, including professional photography and high-end graphics, and includes an embedded spectrophotometer for colour calibration, with optional HP Gloss Enhancer for improved gloss uniformity.

New productivity print modes can increase output by up to 90%, while dual-roll support, automatic roll switching and an integrated vertical trimmer are designed to reduce manual intervention and post-processing time. The printers also integrate with HP Click App and Driver, and include HP Wolf Pro Security.

The HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9⁺ PostScript Printer Series Plus Edition will be generally available from 22 June 2026.

HP also announced new features for HP PrintOS Production Hub, including Order Approval, an Orders API for integration with CRM, ERP, MIS and accounting systems, and an AI Upscale Image feature for improving low-resolution files during preparation.

At Fespa, HP also revealed the HP Latex FS70 W, first introduced in October 2025. Newlab, an early EMEA customer, has installed the printer to support demand for premium applications.

“The quality impressed us immediately, but above all, it was the productivity gains that stood out,” said Giuliano Goffi, owner of Newlab. “The HP Latex FS70 W has significantly reduced our production times while opening new creative possibilities with white ink across a much wider range of applications.”
