EMT International has debuted a new die-cut postcard sheeting system. The innovation is aimed at commercial printers and direct mail producers seeking to increase output while expanding creative options for postcard campaigns.
The new Vira Shape Advanced Die-Cut Postcard Sheeting System has been developed as part of EMT’s modular Vira platform and is designed to support a wide range of run lengths, from short, targeted jobs through to sustained, high-volume production. According to the company, the system can operate at speeds of up to 500 feet per minute while maintaining precise registration and consistent cut quality.
EMT says the launch responds to renewed interest in direct mail, particularly for applications that demand higher visual impact and more distinctive formats. The system is intended to help mailers differentiate their output without compromising throughput or operational efficiency.
“Direct mail is experiencing a resurgence, but mailers are under pressure to deliver more distinctive pieces at higher volumes,” said Mike Herold, vice president of sales and marketing at EMT. “This solution gives our customers the ability to stand out creatively without sacrificing speed, quality, or efficiency.”
The die-cut technology is designed to eliminate white edges on full-bleed dark prints and can handle substrates up to 20pt (0.508mm). EMT says this enables a broader range of applications beyond standard postcards, including loyalty cards, retail promotional pieces, door hangers, table tents, tear-away designs, and other custom-shaped formats.
Key features include tight web register control for accurate die-cutting, flexible die plates to support faster job changeovers, and a short web path intended to reduce waste and improve efficiency. The system has also been engineered with a compact footprint and is designed for continuous, 24/7 production environments.
Output can be delivered in a shingle stream for downstream processing, with stacking options available depending on configuration and production requirements.
Mr Herold added that the system is intended to bridge the gap between creative flexibility and industrial-scale output. “This technology opens the door to shapes and designs previously unavailable at this level of throughput, while also giving customers the flexibility to economically produce everything from highly targeted micro-runs to millions of postcards per month.”
The Vira Shape Advanced Die-Cut Postcard Sheeting System is available now and can be integrated with other modules within EMT’s Vira platform.
