Hybrid Software Helix (formerly Global Graphics Software) has launched SmartRIP, an industrial inkjet raster image processor (RIP) designed for OEMs and system integrators. The company says SmartRIP is the world’s first GPU-native RIP, offering high performance and scalability.

SmartRIP provides a streamlined feature set and optimised pricing, aimed at the broader industrial print market rather than high-end digital presses for labels and packaging.

Developed for integrators who need to embed advanced print capabilities into industrial systems quickly and securely, the company explained that SmartRIP supports the industrial OPC UA communication standard to ensure secure connections across production environments. Its GPU-native architecture accelerates processing and allows the CPU to handle other tasks simultaneously, improving flexibility and scalability. According to the company, this helps maximise controller hardware performance and enables faster integration – reducing setup times from months to hours.

The software also includes advanced print quality technologies, such as ColorLogic colour management, within an automated and user-friendly system. This allows operators of all experience levels to achieve consistent print quality with minimal setup, explained Hybrid Software Helix.

Managing director of Hybrid Software Helix Justin Bailey said: “With SmartRIP, we’ve taken the proven technology from SmartDFE, which powers high-end digital presses, and streamlined it for a wider range of industrial applications. OEMs and integrators can now deliver exceptional print quality faster, with less complexity and at a lower cost. Additionally, with its embedded OPC UA, SmartRIP is secure by design, making it ready for the requirements expected under the Cyber Resilience Act coming into effect in Europe in 2027.”
