Developer of digital printing technologies and the OEM business unit of Hybrid Software, Global Graphics Software, has unveiled its new brand identity: Hybrid Software Helix. The company said the new name reflects its role in shaping the future of digital print.
“Becoming Hybrid Software Helix marks the next chapter in our journey,” said managing director Justin Bailey. “The printing industry is transforming with AI, Industry 4.0, and smart factories. We’ve evolved alongside it, innovating so our OEM customers can use our technology components to build customised intelligent print systems this new era demands.”
The Helix name was chosen as a metaphor for the company’s technology, which provides the embedded intelligence that powers industrial print systems. Just as DNA encodes the intelligence of life, Hybrid Software Helix technology underpins the intelligence within OEM print systems.
Next year, the company will mark its 40th anniversary. Its origins trace back to Cambridge, UK, where a research project led to the creation of the Harlequin RIP – a technology that remains widely used across the printing industry. The majority of the company’s R&D team continues to be based near the university city.
Since joining Hybrid Software Group in 2021, the company has benefited from being part of an organisation that owns all its intellectual property and serves both OEMs and end users. This independence from press manufacturers enables Hybrid Software Helix to innovate freely and develop tailored technologies for each OEM’s requirements.
Hybrid Software Group’s portfolio covers the full print workflow, including file pre-flighting, colour management, and high-speed print data delivery to inkjet printheads. Other business units include Meteor Inkjet, a specialist in industrial printhead drive solutions, and Xitron, which develops offset printing workflows.
Mr Bailey said the rebrand reinforces the company’s long-standing principles. “We may have a new name, but our values remain the same,” he said. “Hybrid Software Helix continues to be defined by trust, collaboration, and innovation. The Helix identity connects our Cambridge roots with our vision for the future – intelligent, innovative, and performant.”
