Inkcups has introduced several updates to its Helix One benchtop cylindrical UV direct-to-object printer aimed at improving efficiency and broadening its application range.

One key feature demonstrated at Fespa 2025 is the Auto File and barcode scanning technology. Designed for the Helix One, Auto File automates job setup by managing files and ensuring accurate printing through smart part detection. This feature supports sequential file printing, which is suited for print-on-demand and high-mix production environments. Barcode scanning facilitates quick artwork recall and can automatically pause printing if the scanned part does not match the intended print file, helping to reduce errors and improve workflow.

Inkcups has also launched a new jettable primer called SureBond Primer, developed specifically for the Helix One. This primer promotes adhesion on powder-coated products. The printer’s optional seventh channel allows the primer to be applied in-line using a dedicated printhead, streamlining the decoration process for powder-coated drinkware.

The Helix One’s diameter range has been expanded to accommodate smaller cylindrical items down to 33mm in diameter, extending up to 116mm. This increase allows the printer to handle products such as shot glasses, spice jars, and cosmetic bottles, in addition to the existing capabilities for drinkware, candle holders, and plastic bottles.

Launched in 2023, the Helix One builds on Inkcups’ Helix technology, offering a compact and space-efficient benchtop design. The smaller footprint has made it easier for print service providers to enter the direct-to-object printing market and expand their service offerings. The printer is dedicated to cylindrical printing and supports full CMYKW (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, white) and varnish printing on straight-walled and tapered objects made of glass, plastic, and stainless steel.

Gregory Harwood, director of digital product management and global service at Inkcups, said the Helix One is designed to be an affordable and scalable solution for businesses looking to expand into cylindrical printing. He noted that the new features enhance the pre-press file preparation stage and increase the range of printable products.

These updates aim to support Inkcups’ customers in expanding their creative capabilities and improving production efficiency with the Helix One.
