Ricoh has launched the Ricoh Pro C5400 series of colour production printers. The machines have been created to meet the needs of commercial and enterprise operations.

The new printers build on the strengths of their predecessors, the Ricoh Pro C5310S/C5300S/Pro C5300SL systems, said the company. However, the upgraded versions feature “significant” improvements in overall core performance. For commercial printing applications, the high-quality production printers deliver improved image registration accuracy thanks to enhanced paper feed stability and more precise image adjustment functions, the company added.

A range of media types are supported, including coated and waterproof paper, envelopes, clear files, and long sheets up to 1300mm, making it suitable for promotional applications. It is designed to enhance operational efficiency and ease of use, ultimately supporting revenue growth. Key advancements, according to Ricoh, include a reduced warm-up time from 120 seconds to 26 seconds for the Pro C5410S; and 30 seconds for the Pro C5400S, which also has an improved scanning speed of up to 300 duplex pages per minute. Additionally, the interface has been upgraded with a more responsive touchscreen and an enhanced paper setting UI for consistent print quality.

Hardware upgrades include what the company claims to be an industry-first staple-less binding finisher that uses water to bind up to 16 sheets at the corner or 12 sheets with dual binding. The new envelope fusing option increases printing speed and productivity, while the compact folding unit measures 209mm in width. A redesigned vacuum feed large capacity input tray (LCIT) ensures more stable paper transport and precise duplex and long sheet printing. Environmental impact has also been addressed, with the use of recycled materials increased more than fivefold.

“Greater production capacity and versatility is enabled by the new Pro C5400 Series that has been designed to help commercial and enterprise operations expand their capabilities,” says Eef de Ridder, vice president, graphic communications group, Ricoh Europe. “Print production environments need to consistently and flexibly meet greater demand for a wider range of short run applications. The comprehensive upgrades are all focused on powering consistent, high-quality print on a range of substrates to ensure operations can confidently and repeatedly achieve that.”

The Ricoh Pro C5400 series is commercially available from July in EMEA.
