Basingstoke-based direct mail specialist Document Despatch has installed a Konica Minolta AccurioPress C14000e. The upgrade to its production capabilities has been made in partnership with workplace technology services provider Ethos.

Replacing an older black-and-white and lithographic press, the new digital solution enables Document Despatch to deliver highly personalised, data-driven direct mail at faster speeds, with greater flexibility. Designed to support a range of paper types – including heavy-stock postcards and envelopes – the press facilitates on-demand production and full-colour mail merges across multi-campaign workflows.

“We needed a versatile digital print solution capable of handling various substrates, including thick postcards with heavy graphics,” explained Malcolm Baker, sales director at Document Despatch. “The C14000e meets that need with exceptional speed and quality. In just the first 10 days, we produced over 240,000 multi-merged statement packs.”

The press also supports the company’s environmental goals. It uses Konica Minolta’s Simitri HD toner, which lowers fusing temperatures to reduce energy use and operating costs. The company can now eliminate outsourcing and adopt a “just-in-time” production model – reducing waste, storage costs, and carbon footprint.

“By fully embracing a zero-waste model, we’ve eliminated unnecessary storage and outsourcing delays, which not only improves our efficiency but also enhances customer satisfaction,” Mr Baker added.

Lewis Annis, new business sales manager at Ethos, commented: “Document Despatch chose the C14000e for its productivity and ease of use. It’s a future-ready solution that will meet growing client demands and improve turnaround times.”

Rod Heaton, channel manager at Konica Minolta, stated: “In a digitally saturated world, Document Despatch is proving that well-crafted direct mail still captures attention. Their approach sets a new benchmark for personalised customer communication.”
