Stockport-based Deanprint installed a Wohlenberg Quickbinder perfect binder and Trim-Tec three-knife trimmer, to maintain its reputation for supplying top quality printing and bookbinding services.

The company offers a comprehensive range of services including printing, folding, trimming, sewing, perfect binding and wiro binding, as well as being capable of manufacturing boxes, slip cases, folders and ring binders.  It also owns fleet of vehicles to transport finished jobs to customers throughout the UK.

Operations director, Kevin Lee, said, ‘What we were ideally looking for was a ‘rarity’ – a well-built, robust machine that could both back-line for our hard backed book production and perfect bind. We found the solution in the Wohlenberg Quickbinder. And by adding the Trim-Tec we gave ourselves more options and even greater flexibility.  It gave us the ability to perform all four cuts on folded sections one machine rather than have to pass back to a guillotine for the fourth cut, thereby saving time and extra effort.’

The length of print runs undertaken at the company tend to involve two colour printing with runs from 1000 to 100,000 sheets, and case bound book runs of 100-3,000.  ‘Our workload is split almost equally between educational, government and trade work, and depending on the job, this can involve the full process of origination, printing and finishing with over 100 pieces of finishing equipment,’ said Mr Lee. ‘We produce all the binders for births, deaths and marriage registers for the whole of the UK, as well as teacher and student planners, appointment books, accounts books, plus some limited editions and diaries for both national and international markets.’

Both machines were supplied by Friedheim International.
