Fespa has announced the passing of former president and long-serving board member Anders Nilsson, recognising his contribution to the organisation and the wider print industry over more than two decades.

Mr Nilsson served as Fespa president from 2007 to 2010, a period during which the federation expanded its international presence and continued to adapt to the growing influence of digital printing technologies. During his presidency, Fespa broadened its association network in Asia and other regions, helping to strengthen its position as a global federation for the speciality print sector.

His presidency followed the launch of Fespa Digital in 2006, and he oversaw a period in which the organisation increasingly focused on emerging technologies and the changing needs of print businesses as digital production gained momentum across the industry.

Nilsson was a member of the Fespa board for 21 years, serving from 2000 until 2021. After completing his term as president, he continued his involvement with the organisation as Asia Ambassador, working with regional associations and partners to support Fespa’s international development.

Alongside his work with Fespa, Mr Nilsson was a prominent figure within Fespa Sweden, where he served from 1994 until 2026. In 2023, he was named honorary chair of Fespa Sweden in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the association and the print industry.

Outside his association roles, Mr Nilsson was CEO and owner of Gamleby Screen AB, a Swedish large-format printing company. His experience as a print business owner informed his work within Fespa and its member network.

Fespa president Daniel Sunderland paid tribute to Mr Nilsson, saying: “Anders was a dear friend loved by everyone, who made a lasting contribution to Fespa in what was an exciting and transformative period for our organisation. His ability to connect with people across various regions helped to form the Fespa that we know today. Anders will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him and working with him.”

Fespa said Mr Nilsson would be remembered not only for his leadership and industry knowledge, but also for the relationships he built across the global print community during his many years of service.
