John Hornby, chief executive of The Lettershop Group in Leeds (pictured above), has been awarded a Lighthouse Award from Kodak. The Lighthouse Awards are presented for achieving success as partners, customers and innovators in the print industry.
For the past 30 years The Lettershop Group has provided personalised direct mail to the financial services, retail and mail order sectors in the form of enclosed and one-piece mailers. The company has grown into a full marketing services provider that designs and and delivers innovative print campaigns.
With a strategy of separating the web printing process from the web finishing process (offline), the company is able to offer its clients comparatively lower volumes, even as low as 10,000 copies, while still being able to accommodate runs into the millions.
The company has developed its own full colour inkjet print line, based on Kodak Prosper S10 print heads (see Digital Printer May 2011).
Mr Hornby said: ‘We are delighted to have won a 2012 Kodak Lighthouse Award for our work with Kodak. Kodak’s inkjet technology already far surpasses any other print solution available today, and continues to evolve to new levels of speed, quality and performance. Together, our two companies share an exciting vision for the future, and we are committed to pushing this technology to new limits in the months and years ahead.’
Philip Faraci, president and chief operating officer of Kodak, said: ‘John Hornby is regarded as one of the most forward thinking and innovative printers in the UK today. He has driven the direct mail business to new levels of personalisation and quality with Kodak’s printhead technology, and has created and tested unique configurations that have allowed him to diversify and attract a large number of leading brands. We are pleased to present John with this award as an acknowledgement of the enviable progress that he has made as both a pioneer and innovator within this fast-moving industry.’
