Why go to the trouble of turning wood into paper? Indian company Nissiwood Veneers has introduced an unusual range of ‘microthin’ directly printable wood sheets that have been tested and approved for Intec’s range of toner printers. They can be supplied on A4 and A3 sheets in 0.45mm and 0.60 mm thicknesses, that can be handled by the Intecs’ heavy weight sheet feeders and straight-through paper paths. A2 sheets can also be supplied, but the Intecs can’t handle that format.
Using real wood means that every item has a unique grain pattern and colour. Applications could include bookmarks, menus, awards, business cards, covers, packaging, invitations and ‘green’ promotions.
‘We have tested the products that Nissiwood offer and can recommend the use of them on our XP2020 and CP2020 equipment range – the 0.45 mm and 0.6 mm products will be pretty much unique to us due to our heavy stock capability,’ said Terri Winstanley, head of marketing at Intec Printing Solutions. ‘Nissiwood enables Intec users to produce completely unique top quality products that truly stand out from the crowd. Now rather than handing out a traditional business card, why not give a wooden one? It’s sure to create a lasting impression for the person you give it to.’
Nissiwood offers a large choice of different woods to create different effects. It said it only uses logs from renewable forests and plantations, which are sourced both from India and worldwide. It doesn’t have a UK importer but orders can be made from its website and shipped by Fedex. As an example, A4 size 0.45 mm Indian Birch costs about 66p per sheet, though minimum order quantities and shipping charges apply.
