A new luxurious new paper, Curious Matter, produced from a by-product of potato starch is now being stocked by Antalis.
The paper is the latest addition to Arjowiggins’ Curious Collection, which includes the Translucents, Metallics, Skin, Touch and Cosmic ranges. The paper is for a wide range of distinctive applications, from attention grabbing invitations to ‘clothing labels that want to make a statement’.
The range is said to deliver spectacular results with four colour and spot varnish offset printing, digital dry toner printing, lithography and letterpress and is the perfect material for a full range of finishing techniques and processes. The paper lends itself well to folding, scoring, laser-cutting and lamination processes, and so can be used for distinctive boxing and folding cartons.
Emma Linley, product manager, said, ‘We are very excited about the addition of Curious Matter to the Curious Collection range, which is exclusive to Antalis. It is a whole new breed of paper, which is made using innovative manufacturing processes and recycling industrial waste, it’s hard to believe that such a luxurious paper can be made by recycling this waste.’
The product is the result of an eight year quest by the Arjowiggins’ research and development team to create daring papers with unique creative characteristics. The team used microscopic spherical particles of raw starch to create the paper’s texture. The paper is available in four weights, 125, 135, 270 and 380 gsm.
