The Versant 2100 Press can print 100 pages per minute.

A new 100-pages per minute  press has been launched by Xerox for graphic communication providers – the Versant 2100 Press, with a choice of EFI Fiery front ends. .

The company describes the new device as suitable for any production environment, as it combines speed, image quality and automation features to create colourful personalised communications.

The machine can automate colour control, create image-to-media alignment profiles and deliver brand-managed colour.

Focusing on quality the device has ben designed to produce smooth sweeps and gradients, sharp images, graphics and text with the new Ultra HD Resolution. Applications are rendered at 1200 x 1200 dpi at up to 10 bits. It also provides vibrant images with low gloss, low melt EA Dry Ink.

With the Versant 2100 Press, printers can retain repeatable business with numerous workflow options. Xerox FreeFlow Core allows printers can automate complex prepress steps and with XMPie StoreFlow they can create and deliver revenue generating web-to-print portals.

The press uses two EFI Fiery digital front ends (DFEs), the Xerox EX 2100 and EX-P 2100. These print servers powered by Fiery use a new 10 bit, 1200 dpi processing technology at the digital front end. Processing tinted text and graphics at these resolutions produces sharper edges for an exceptionally crisp, clean appearance.

The new Fiery Ultra Smooth Gradients feature goes beyond traditional 8 bit rendering to help eliminate ‘stair stepped’ gradient shades common in digital printing of vector images. To the print service provider, these technology advances mean higher print quality, less rework, and more satisfied customers, the company said.

‘Commercial printers, corporate in-plant print departments and graphics firms demand the most out of their digital printing investments, and the new Fiery servers deliver on their most urgent image quality and colour accuracy needs,’ said Robert Stabler, senior vice president, Xerox Graphic Communications Business Group. ‘Fiery servers are unique in their ability to increase shop automation and productivity with their seamless integration to EFI MIS and web to print products as well as leading prepress workflow solutions.’

The new DFEs are based on the Fiery FS100 Pro platform. As a result, complex design elements like overprinting and transparencies can be printed correctly the first time.

Another key benefit of the Fiery DFEs is their tight integration with Xerox FreeFlow Workflow Collection and FreeFlow Core, providing customers with additional time-saving automation and operational efficiency.
