The installation of a Bograma BSR 550 Servo rotary die cutting machine has been completed at Ultragraph in Lancashire, after the company first saw the unit five years ago.
Managing director Nick Jones said, ‘When we first saw the rotary die-cutter it was still in its ‘prototype’ stage, but you could clearly see its potential. Up until now we’ve been die cutting using a converted press, but we have been following Bograma’s development of the machine and decided it was time to take a ‘significant’ leap forward in terms of our die-cutting technology and production capability, and the result is the installation of the BSR 550 Servo!’
The company offers litho printing and digital printing, as well as a full range of in-house finishing processes, and is capable of handling jobs valued at a few thousand pounds right through to those worth many tens of thousands.
Mr Jones added, ‘The installation of the Bograma rotary die-cutter is a major investment for Ultragraph, and forms part of a wider investment programme to increase our overall capabilities. We already produce many die-cut products for a variety of customers, but after taking a ‘long, hard look’ at what we could offer in this service we realised that we needed to be able to ‘add more value’ with in-line stripping and blanking of flat sheets.’
