Helen Esmonde will make history at the Stationers’ Company next month when she is elected as the first lady master after 612 years.
‘I feel a mixture of great excitement and heavy responsibility,’ said Helen Esmonde. ‘In my term of office at the Stationers’ Company I will actively work towards a more balanced membership. I would encourage more women and young people to join and enjoy the fellowship, our proud heritage and a stimulating, relevant, and influential organisation.’
She assumes the mantle at a time when the company represents a broad spread within the content and communications sector from office products to newspapers and digital platforms.
She succeeds Ian Locks and adds, ‘Ian is always understated but has delivered on so many key areas for the company. He has built much stronger links with our industries and encouraged fresh thinking. He was responsible for launching our Innovation Excellence Awards. He has supported the Stationers’ Company involvement in the Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy as we work towards developing their new digital media centre. I shall continue to support this work.’
