(L-R) Adam Evans, Darren Matthews, Jordan Stapleford with the new Scodix ULTRA
Celloglas has installed a Scodix ULTRA digital press to offer gloss spot or high build emboss polymer finishes for enhancing digital or litho offset print.
Typical uses for Digital Spot or Digital Emboss HD would include business cards, tickets, short run promotional print, greetings cards, menus, brochure covers or special edition packaging.
The company offers the gloss digital spot polymer (Spot 80), a superior option for smaller print runs (as little as 10 sheets), where traditional screen varnish is uneconomic due to the make ready process and overs. The finish is also ideal for personalisation and can enhance a wide range of printed materials including metallic papers such as Mirri.
Celloglas can also offer the high build, high definition emboss finish that Scodix is known for, giving spectacular gloss effects. Digital Emboss HD also allows for multi-level varnish designs and personalisation in one pass, with a build as high as braille if required. Another effect includesthe use of metallic laminated materials to create a foil effect.
Richard Gillgrass, managing director commented, ‘We identified a gap in the rapidly expanding smaller run digital and litho print market for a superior ‘spot varnish’ finish. This is currently unavailable as a cost effective option as the traditional screen process and registration for digital print tends to be an issue. We have worked hard with Scodix to develop the right Digital Spot polymer to complement the spectacular high build emboss polymer and can now offer both finishes to the wider market as a fast and convenient trade service. The digital technology also provides perfect precision, which is a great step forward. We are delighted with the results.’
This flexible trade service with two finishing options is perfect for digital printers and B2 litho printers who would like to offer digital finishing enhancements for print as part of their service, but don’t have a Scodix machine in-house.
