The LumeJet S200 system.

LumeJet is to live on as a print service for the trade, after a small group of ‘substantial’ investors acquired the assets of the brand and commenced trading today (29 September 2015) as LumeJet Print Technologies Ltd.

Former chief executive Paul Anson is to operate as executive deputy chairman for the new enterprise, which follows LumeJet, the technology manufacturer, entering administration in August after a failed re-financing attempt.

Mr Anson has issued a statement outlining plans for the new high quality printing service, which he says ‘will build on the unbeatable print quality of the LumeJet S200 over the coming years’. In the statement, Mr Anson said: ‘despite the clear appreciation of printers and end-customers for LumeJet’s quality of output, we recognize that buying an S200 is a major capital expense decision. We will therefore be offering a new print service for the trade that will permit print service providers to build a business case and revenues, and develop their own finishing styles.’

The plan therefore is to offer LumeJet output in volume, and Mr Anson said the business was ‘seeking partners who have ambition to differentiate themselves through unique quality and who can build significant demand for LumeJet print, both in the UK and internationally’. He went on: ‘Our new model is not equipment sales or leasing but an effective commercial partnership through which we can jointly offer truly unique quality at attractive prices.’

Around half a dozen of the ‘photonic’ S200 systems have been sold in the UK to companies such as Altaimage, Clicks and TG Print & Design, and Mr Anson said the new LumeJet would work with these to encompass their production capacity with partners and LumeJet’s own, so that they can develop their own ‘ultra-high quality’ service.

The company’s LumeBar development project has continued with the support of partner Plessey Semiconductors, and Mr Anson said there were still ambitions in plastic electronics and high speed inkless printing for applications such as packaging, utilizing novel coating technology. He added that LumeJet has retained a very committed team, that its technical capability is at full strength, and that it has the financial backing to ‘ensure that LumeJet is able to meet its full potential’.
