London-based digital printer 1st Byte has been placed into administration as parts of the business are sold off to competing firms.
Local commercial printer, Rapidity has bought the online business card provider, Press4Print, which was separate from the 1st Byte business, and has taken on 15 former 1st Byte employees.
Menzies was appointed as administrator to the company on 30 October after the company struggled over the summer.
The company had been seen as an innovator within the digital printing sector and was the recipient of many industry awards including the Creative use of substrates at the Digital Printer Awards 2014 and Digital Printer’s Supreme Award in 2012.
The company was an early adopter of HP Indigo technology and with London’s first Scodix digital enhancement press it launched a division for creative print applications, which it called Sensory Print.
