Dave Dixon, Sales and Marketing Director with the new Xerox 1000i

Bath-based Minuteman Press recently invested in the new Xerox 1000i digital press to run alongside a Xerox Versant 80, which was installed around seven months ago.

The 100 ppm Xerox 1000i, which was launched last year, includes an optional specialty dry ink station that enhances documents with true Pantone metallic gold or silver speciality dry inks, or applies spot or flood creative effects with clear dry ink.

Sales and marketing director Dave Dixon, said, ‘I think it’s quite unique to be able to offer metallic gold and silver on digital short-run work. It’s not breaking the bank anymore to do jobs such as gold printed wedding invites or orders of service.’

‘With some of our agencies we’re looking at how we can make some of their print material stand out a little bit more. A lot of our work is short-run variable data and variable data gold and silver is quite impactful. How often do you see your name printed in gold ink, for example?’

The new press means that the company can now print short run and personalised prints in gold, silver and clear inks and have been using it to great effect for standalone gold and silver. It has also been used to enhance full colour print, widening the colour range in a way that cannot be offered with traditional printing.

‘The team at Minuteman Press continues to go from strength to strength and has harnessed Xerox’s new print capabilities to continue to provide the highest quality materials whilst managing tight turnarounds,’ said Mike Holyoake, general manager, graphic communications operations, Xerox U.K.’This investment enables the company to increase its output productivity and achieve even greater levels of quality.’
