Printondemand-Worldwide has installed a Kolbus DA270 case maker with variable automatic spine cutter. This is the first DA270 in the UK to be equipped with the variable cutter and is the first Kolbus machine to be linked to a customer’s own MIS system to produce a book of one.
The fully automatic Kolbus DA270 case maker running at 65 cycles/minute with fast make-ready and variable spine cutting ensures consistent fast throughput of top quality products. Printondemand-Worldwides’ MIS system products are barcoded to make-ready the machine, offering a seamless service to customers from order through to printing, finishing and on to despatch.
Andy Cork, managing director, said, ‘Up until now case making has always slowed the book of one process down and as a completely manual process, does bring its own challenges! Each person manually was producing 65 books per hour, but now we can do this per minute. This puts us on track for our ultimate goal to supply global content in any format, same day or next day. Well done Kolbus! Onto the next challenge of linking our inkjet line to our automated binding lines by quarter two of 2016.’
Greg Bird, director of sales Kolbus UK, said, ‘It was clear that Printondemand-Worldwide had recognised the growth potential for print on demand books. The new Kolbus DA270 case maker ensures that they can cope with the increasing demand whilst continuing to supply high quality books.’
