The Canon ColourStream 6000

A series of products will be launched across Canon’s line up at drupa including a new continuous feed inkjet press, the ColourStream 6000 Chroma and a new cut sheet toner press, the C8000VP.

It will also upgrade its roll-to-sheet inkjet press the VarioPrint i300 with new paper conditioning treatment ColourGrip and new inks that widen the compatible media range. It will show the VarioPrint i300 at drupa running into a Tecnau TC 1530 cut sheet dynamic perforator, which enables horizontal and vertical perforation to be controlled at a page level for transactional and direct mail applications.

The ColourStream 6000 Chroma replaces the ColourStream 3000 series. It uses Chromera, a new generation of inks, which are claimed to widen the range of media supported and produce more vibrant colours. The 150 m/min machine also adds a monochrome only print mode, which the company claimed would be attractive to companies with a mix of colour and black & white pages. Canon’s existing ColourStream 3000 and 3000 Z machines will be field upgradeable to the new configuration.

The C8000VP is a new 80 A4 page per minute cut sheet toner press, which is based on the same technology as the faster 100 ppm C10000VP, which was introduced last autumn. It will sit in the company’s range between that machine and the lighter duty C800.

‘It was logical to close the gap between the C800 and the C10000VP,’ said Peter Wolff, head of commercial print group, Canon Europe. ‘It is a very good match for customers who want to print onto a wide range of substrates.’

The company also revealed that since its launch at the end of last year the flagship C10000VP press had notched up 80 installations within Europe.
