The Draabe TurboFogNeo 8

Print humidification specialist Condair will create Europe’s largest humidification system at drupa 2016. The system will be used to maintain optimum humidity in both the Heidelberg hall 1 and the HP hall 17.

Draabe TurboFogNeo 8 high pressure humidifiers will be suspended from the halls’ ceilings during the exhibition to maintain an optimum 55% relative humidity (%RH) for demonstration of the printing equipment on display. A low humidity can lead to static problems and cause a paper’s moisture content to drop, with a resulting change to its physical size. This can happen quickly with paper losing up to 20% of its moisture content in 90 seconds when exposed to less than 40%RH.

A total of 50 humidifiers will be installed, which are capable of spraying up to 1600 litres of moisture per hour to humidify the total area of 12,000 sqm. Four Draabe PerPur water treatment and high pressure pump units will treat and supply the water to the humidification systems, as well as supplying pure water to the Heidelberg printing machines.

The installation at drupa is a logistical challenge as all activities need to be coordinated with the event’s organisers and the machinery suppliers in order not to disrupt their preparations prior to the opening of drupa on 31 May. Condair can call on its experience for the event, as this will be the sixth time that the company has been commissioned by Heidelberg to maintain the air humidity around its exhibits at drupa.
