ProCo has developed a training and innovation programme, which it calls Spark, to educate customers, staff and suppliers about print and its place in the communications mix.

‘I heard that companies with a training and innovation centre are 12% more profitable, and I wanted some of that,’ said ProCo CEO Jon Bailey.

The Spark initiative is based at the firm’s Essex site in Stansted and combines interactive classroom training with the chance to see print production from the studio through to finishing on the shop floor.

John Charnock of Print Research International worked with the company to develop the modular training, which will be rolled out in the new year. It plans to put all of its 140 staff through the programme and will also offer places to its customers and to suppliers and partners.
