LED curing allows the Acuity lED 1600R to print on heat-sensitive media
Fujifilm has introduced the Acuity LED 1600R, an “accessible” roll-fed version of the hybrid LED 1600 II, offering up to eight colours and the ability to print on heat-sensitive media.
Unlike the Acuity brand flatbed models that Fujifilm sources from Canon Océ, the roll-fed models are exclusive to Fujifilm and use the company’s Dimatix print heads. The new model offers four Uvijet RL ink colours as standard and can be field upgraded to eight, which will include white and clear ink as well as light cyan and light magenta.
A “high density” printing mode allows heat-sensitive media such as that used for backlit and window graphics to be printed at “near photographic” quality. Maximum productivity is 33sqm/hr.
Tudor Morgan, segment manager, Sign & Display at Fujifilm Graphic Systems Europe, said: ‘Fujifilm has established a strong business with the Acuity LED 1600 and then the Acuity LED 1600 II, with close to 1000 installations globally. To build on this success, we are now offering an equally robust, lower-cost model in the Acuity LED 1600R that can provide a great investment opportunity for printers looking to produce high quality, large format display work – all without compromising on the excellent performance characteristics that have gained the Acuity LED 1600 II such a formidable reputation.”
The Acuity LED 1600R will be available in the base four-colour configuration from 1 March 2018. The eight colour upgrade will be available later in the year.
