Visibly smoother skin: JPEG artifacts removed by Amendo
German software developer OneVision has announced updates to its workflow management software, prepress suite, PDF editor and image enhancement tools.
Intended to improve production planning and control, version 18.1 of OneVision’s will add extended statistics to its Workspace workflow manager, to better enable production peaks and bottlenecks to be detected, analysed and addressed, as well as monitoring and pre-emptively warning of shortage of storage space. The new version also adds Adobe connectors so that InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator files can be processed, as well as supporting bi-directional communications with other software such as web-to-print portals, MIS or ordering systems.
The Amendo automated image enhancement software gains the ability to reduce image artifacts caused by very high levels of JPEG image compression. It also gains new options in image rescaling to suit standardised dimensions and/or resolutions.
Calculation and recording of ink quantities for litho or other analogue printing with Pantone or similar inks is supported. This is supported by a plug-in that enables spot colours to be extracted from PDF files for further processing for functions such as cutting, for example. There are also improvements to file sizes for VDP jobs.
The new releases are being rolled out from early April.
