BG Install has expanded its in-house production setup with the purchase of a Canon Colorado M5W, JWEI JCUT Pro 1625 digital cutting table, and Neolt Shield 1650 laminator from CMYUK.

The company, which specialises in architectural surface refurbishment and vinyl wrapping for marine, automotive, and built environments, said the investment will help it handle complex work more efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

Founded in 2016 and run by co-owners Michael Whitehead and Andy Cleal, BG Install has built its business around technically demanding projects, including work on boats, bi-planes, drones, and submarines.

“We’ve always focused on delivering exceptional results, particularly on projects that require precision and technical expertise,” said Mr Whitehead. “Investing in advanced production technology allows us to increase capacity, improve efficiency, and maintain the high standards our clients expect, while continuing to take on increasingly complex work.”

Mr Whitehead said the business has chosen to remain a small, skilled team, and use automation to improve productivity rather than expand headcount. “Our reputation is built on the quality of the results we deliver, and we stand firmly behind every project,” he said.

According to the company, the Neolt Shield 1650 has improved both speed and consistency in lamination. “The Neolt has been transformational for us,” said Mr Whitehead. “It’s significantly faster and more reliable than our previous equipment, allowing us to complete projects more efficiently and with complete confidence in the quality of the finish. It’s improved both productivity and consistency across our workflow.”

The JWEI table has also allowed BG Install to bring more finishing work in-house. Mr Whitehead said this has improved control over quality and installation efficiency, and on a recent refurbishment project in Southampton the company estimated it saved 150m of material by pre-cutting on the machine.

BG Install later added the Canon Colorado M5W to address speed limitations in print production. Mr Whitehead said the printer has significantly reduced turnaround times. “Our previous printer took around ten hours to print 7m at high-quality. The Colorado M5W can achieve the same output under an hour at the highest quality setting,” he said.

He added that the machine also allows the business to move straight from print into finishing, without outgassing delays, helping create a faster overall workflow.
