Track7 Technology Group, the parent company of Newcastle-based digital development agency Enigma Interactive, has acquired RWS Web Solutions, the business behind the Flex4 OPS (Online Print Solution) platform.

Flex4 is a UK-developed ecommerce platform designed for web-to-print providers and print businesses looking to build and grow online sales channels. The deal marks Track7’s first acquisition and extends the group’s reach into the specialist web-to-print segment, building on Enigma’s experience delivering large-scale digital transformation programmes in the UK and overseas.

Founded in Kendal, Cumbria, Flex4’s OPS platform combines web-to-print technology with digital marketing tools aimed at helping print companies develop profitable online sales channels. The business has operated in the sector for more than a decade and works with a network of clients and partners, including Optimus MIS and Konica Minolta.

Under the new ownership, Flex4 OPS will continue to operate independently from its Kendal base. Co-founder Francis Whiteley will remain as managing director and the existing team will stay in place.

Steve Grainger, founder and managing director at Enigma Interactive, said: “Flex4 OPS has built a strong product and is market leader in a highly competitive sector. Bringing the business under the umbrella of the Track7 Technology Group will allow it to consolidate its market leading position and support its next stage of growth. Over the coming months we’ll be investing in the platform, strengthening capability, and helping the team scale, while keeping Flex4’s day-to-day operations independent. We’re excited to welcome Francis and the team into the group and to see what we can achieve together.”

Francis Whiteley, managing director at Flex4 OPS, said: “This is a positive step for Flex4. After many years as a family-run business, this acquisition gives us the backing, leadership support and investment we need to take the company to the next level, while keeping things ‘business as usual’ for our customers.

“Enigma brings deep experience in delivering complex digital programmes, and we’re looking forward to learning from this to further strengthen our offer for new and existing clients.”

Track7 said the acquisition forms part of a longer-term strategy to expand through the addition of complementary digital platforms and specialist teams.
