Formara Print & Marketing has invested in new inkjet production technology to expand its short-run, full-colour printing capabilities, responding to growing demand for faster turnaround times and personalised print.

The company has installed the Kirk-Rudy Firejet 4C from AMS Mailing Systems, a production inkjet system designed to bridge the gap between toner-based printers and large production print jobs. The system is intended to support small to mid-volume colour print runs while offering consistent output quality and predictable operating costs.

The Firejet 4C combines Kirk-Rudy transport technology with Memjet inkjet technology, enabling full-bleed colour printing on a wide range of substrates. These include envelopes, postcards, flyers, posters, gift bags, napkins, coffee sleeves, and coasters, allowing Formara to broaden its range of short-run print applications.

The system is supported by integrated XColor RIP and colour management software, which provides workflow control and colour consistency. Built-in consumables cost tracking is designed to improve transparency and efficiency in production, while features such as simplified printhead replacement and a pneumatic lift for the print module are intended to support reliability in a production environment.

Bringing the technology in-house is expected to give Formara greater operational flexibility and improved cost control, particularly for clients running targeted campaigns or variable print projects.

Andy Pond, managing director at Formara Print & Marketing, said client requirements had shifted towards shorter print runs and quicker turnaround times.

“Client demand has shifted towards shorter runs, quicker turnaround, and more targeted print,” he commented. “This investment allows us to meet those expectations efficiently, while maintaining the quality and reliability our clients expect.”

The investment reflects wider changes in how print is being used, with businesses increasingly adopting more agile and responsive print strategies. Formara said the new system positions the company to support evolving client requirements across sectors including marketing, retail, hospitality, and direct mail.
